THE VERSE

Jesus answered, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
~John 14:6

THE THOUGHT

Jesus is life. The faith that we profess is more than an idea that we agree with. It is more than something to participate in on Sunday mornings. Faith is more than a Bible study, more than a feeling, more than a denomination. Faith is trust in a person- the person of Jesus Christ. When Christianity becomes personal, when we move past man-made traditions and structure and embrace the God who first embraced us, that is when we will discover this truth: that Jesus is life. He is the air we breathe, the only food for our souls to feed on, the One who sustains our existence and gives us purpose and meaning. Life apart from Christ, despite all appearances, is completely empty. The only thing that can rescue us from a shallow, meaningless existence in this world of sin is a personal relationship with Life Himself- a relationship with Jesus Christ.

THE PRAYER

Jesus, I proclaim with joy that You are who You said You are- You are the Author of Life, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. You are the only Way to God, You are the only absolute Truth, and You are the only Life. I want to find my life in You, Lord. Take my life and let it be consecrated to You. Take my empty life and give me all the fullness of Yours, so that I can live out Your calling, for Your glory.

THE QUOTE

“Paul cannot long talk about Christian joy, or Christian ethics, or Christian fellowship, or the Christian doctrine of God, or anything else, without finally tying it to the cross. Paul is gospel-centered; he is cross-centered.” ~D.A. Carson
