THE VERSE
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours.
~1 Chronicles 29:11
THE THOUGHT
It is amazing that one of the most glorious declarations of praise comes from such a place in the Old Testament. Thousands of years ago, God was faithful and had reserved a people for Himself who knew Him. What is even more amazing, though, is that all these same glorious attributes that God is praised for in 1000 BC are the very same things that Christ is praised for in Revelation. “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Let the enormity of God’s grace sink in to your heart. The eternal Son of God, spotless Lamb, Holy God, is the Lover of your soul, and He poured out His life unto death for YOU. The Son of God, to whom all greatness and power and glory and majesty and splendor belongs, traded it all for a cross where He took your sin and gave you His righteousness. Rejoice at the depths of His love!
THE PRAYER
Lord, You are great and glorious beyond my ability to even imagine. Thank you for sending Your Son to come to this world, leaving His throne and taking my cross and my shame to be my Savior.
